Delaware Counties
Delaware has three counties: New Castle, Kent, and Sussex. Each one has its own courthouse and its own clerks. Civil cases are filed in the Superior Court, the Court of Common Pleas, the Court of Chancery, or one of the many Justice of the Peace Courts in the county. The Prothonotary is the civil clerk who keeps the case files in Superior Court. The Register in Chancery keeps Chancery files. Fees and hours are set by the state, but each county has its own phone line and staff. Pick a county below to get the address, phone, and links to civil court records for that area.
